Brief Introduction of the Department
The Department of
Sociology made its debut at the college in 1990. In 2018, it underwent an
upgrade to become an Honours subject. The department comprises five faculty
members, with one serving as the College's Vice Principal. The remaining four
faculty members specialize in diverse sociological areas including sociology of
development, religion, folk culture, urban sociology, rural sociology, and
more. At the Department of Sociology, we delve into the complexities of human
societies, exploring their structures, dynamics, and transformations. Our
vibrant academic community is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of
the social world and its intricate workings. Through rigorous research and
engaged teaching, we strive to equip our students with the knowledge and skills
to navigate today's ever-changing social landscape.

Knowledge: We aim to push the boundaries of sociological
